Embracing the Gift of Parenthood How to Create a Loving Relationship with your Children

Elizabeth Marie Galloway-Evans

This book concentrates on the relationship between parents and their children. It brings to light, what children are asking parents to be for them in their lives. As parents we feel that we are the ones that have expectations and dreams for our children, when in reality the expectations that children have of us are far more explicit and expansive than what we ask of them. The funny thing about this is that if we meet their expectations of who it is that we need to be in their lives, they will exceed our dreams of what we want for them in their lives.

The Global Covenant to Protect the Sacred Lives of Children

Elizabeth Marie Galloway-Evans

The “Global Covenant to Protect the Sacred Lives of Children”, represents my soul’s mission to advocate for children and my life’s work, to be a voice for children. I want the content of this book to be a global “light” to bring humanity to an understanding of how of the welfare of our children must be our priority. I believe that we can change the world’s perspective of “who children are to us”, and “what we must do to love and protect them”! I have a dream and I hold a vision that we will “stand up”, “speak up”, and “show up “, for our children! They deserve the best of who we are. They deserve the fullness of a life filled with loving, attentive, and righteous adults at the helm of their ship on this life’s voyage. This conversation is not a document that is governmental in texture like a “Bill of Rights”. This goes deeper reaching out to the soul essence of mankind. This is a “covenant”, something that is a spiritual agreement that cannot be broken, repealed, or amended. It reaches beyond anyone’s lifetime and for that matter is beyond linear timelines. It just “is”.

A Second Glance in the Garden of Gethsemane

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

An Original Poem by Nicole Añgel Evans

We see You holy man! There, praying that soil wet and easy like quicksand. Fall not! Christ himself came here once. Unsure the heavy burdened confronted the shadows of this temple.  But you must go and be God’s light.  The power of your thunderous pitch has reached the heavens.  Like burst of white light the purity of your cause flashes across the sky and God smiles and boast of your prowess.  Fear not gentle warrior!  Your translations are sacred catalyst. They spill over thirsty nations.

Take those hands and till!  Turn over the compact earth.  Forget that your hands bleed from its unforgiving texture.  Here, in this garden where Judas was temped and Christ too, you sit perplexed with your back to the light and your spine hunched in resignation.  Even the son of man who brought hope to the world sat here in this garden tempted by the darkness and worn by his brethren.  Rise up! We see You Holy man.

We the unborn see you there.  Such agony, beseech you not.  Rise up you have led our people by the hundreds of thousands, and you have shaken free the limitations of all those blinded by fear.  You have whispered change into the wind and its infectious howl has swept away the cowards of the nation.  Fear not, in this your moment of weakness.  You have carried the cross and though you think your job is done, remember Christ.  He and His faith breathe into you, your very life.  Imagine the importance of your stride, walk through pride for You Holy man, will one day give your grandchildren’s children a creed, a lesson for which to model their lives.  You Holy man, speak for me the unborn child.

You Holy man, are to turn to the light and march on in courage.  Pivot now and make your mark in the dust that settles on this the floor of Gethsemane.  Pivot and turn to the light Holy man. Off your backside!  Off your knees!  You are worthy of the job!  You have answered the call of the Almighty.  Back over the bridge of Kidron you must go.  Dashing through the olive trees and back to your cause.  Be renewed by the voice of the unborn.  Be inspired by the energy of the light and heat of God’s love.  Make your footprints show that you pivoted in this the garden of Gethsemane, and marched onward with God’s Light behind your eyes.  Take not a second glance of the Garden of Gethsemane.

PEACEFUL WARRIOR

An Original Poem by Leilani Raine Banday

There is a peaceful warrior that sleeps inside I wake him when it’s time to remind myself How powerful, how beautiful, how wise I am. It is easy to forget the reasons why I’ve come into this body and this mind My purposes get clouded deep behind The mean things people do, or spit or say

When those moments, energies, rear their heads I find my peaceful warrior tucked inside his bed Waiting to be awakened, I call out to him I call out once More I race to the water And find him proudly standing there His skin is glistening golden brown His eyes pure pools of galaxy adorned with kisses of seashell  Crowned on every cusp From head to shoulder to knee to toe

He speaks: Let me be clear…I am mighty! Hear me *howl*! My father is the sky above, My brother, the mountains you bow before! My sister is every drop of rain, Gentle and thunderous storm. My mama is the earth all around From sea shore to rocky floor. And I am the bravery, the wisdom, The key. The sun in every smile, the sweet in the songs you sing.  I am the daring, the wild, the high, Nothing you can shriek Will keep me from being this free! This strong, this proud and this FLY.

So feed my light with whatever you dare Watch it burn bright from here to there My keepers  My ancestors We Laugh *HA*composting your energy With the strength of our backs Lit with the infinite spirit within I AM the peaceful warrior And I will never EVER give up or give -In.

INDIGENOUS GENIUS – HARD TO HATE ME

An Original Poem by Leilani Raine Banday

It must be so hard to hate. What you cannot reach. Call me Ms. birther of cosmic covenants. Ms. Infinity. Ms. heart for the people. Ms. soles to the Earth. Ms. intergenerational healing. Ms. portals to rebirth The ancestors thought of me when they. Dream our destinies amongst healing flowers, The wishes of running rivers, They birthed me through these powers.

These vibrations that circumvented the hate of their own times- -Hailing heavenly hummed harmonies, And Melodies, melanated, The wind chime of my mother’s spells, My father’s moon shells illuminated.

And now as I face this realm, Like a child I hold my ear to the hardwood floor. I listen in tune to the frequency of ancients. Them calling us to essence / to restore. They call us to recollect that our genius been exploited and taken. They call us to claim back our beauty and coax us to awaken.

The ancestors rally and dance in the yard as they always have and will
Swallow sweets and whole belly laugh
Mad jokes and tipsy folks
Gold falling from their shoulders and ears.
Like the once rain that drenched their flesh
Their joy flows/abundant tears,

Their pride in us for the strength to shift.
To change the trajectory of this reality
To uplifting ourselves and cousins.
Into radical indigeneity

Resting in this arrival –
We can feast to, ‘finally here’!
Hate has no chance for survival.
Amidst the absence of fear-

Becoming dew drops in a soft morning sun, Ancestors awaken the new day in us. This moment to claim full freedom and dare to trust. To transcend the hate-
Into our essential completeness- —-
Together, we come into this birthright.
Of indigenous genius.

I WONDER

An Original Poem by Dr. Patricia Antoinette Galloway-Banday

I wonder what’s Malias favorite toy now

I wonder how she likes to wear her hair and when she looks in the mirror- what does she see.

I wonder if she loves the swing or the slide.

I wonder what makes her giggle and the location of her tickle.

I wonder what’s her favorite bedtime story and what lulls her to sleep at night.

I wonder what makes her feel safe and content.

I wonder what she dreams about and what makes her happy.

I wonder what it feels like to hold her as she drifts off to sleep or when she cries because got a scrape on her knee.

I wonder which of her dresses is her favorite and why

Does she like hide or seek or climbing trees? Maybe she likes peanut butter sandwiches with strawberry jam or maybe she prefers them with honey and Angel milk.

I can’t remember what she feels like, or if I ever got a chance to know her texture, her scent, or if she knows ours.

I wonder if she misses us as much as we miss her and love us as much as we love her.

I wonder about baby Simone sending her kisses through the front window. Then sending her kisses through a car window in mask.

I wonder about the sound of her voice, is it still a gentle whisper of sounds and little words?

I wonder about how she looks when she sleeps, she so beautiful.

I wonder what she feels like to hold her now – she must be longer with legs and arms dangling off a lap.

I wonder how her hair smells and how her hugs feel.

I wonder what her giggle sounds like and what gives her a tickle.

I wonder if she loves to sing in her bath or in the church pew with daddy

I wonder what’s her favorite treat and favorite toy and doll and game,

I wonder if she knows us …at all-

I wonder if she will ever know our scent and miss us as much as we miss her, and love us as much as we love her,

I wonder.

THE SHEPHERD

An Original Poem by Elizabeth Marie Galloway-Evans

The Shepherd is resting in the bosom of Jesus,                                                                 And He said, “Well done thy good and faithful servant”.

Fear not my loved ones, fear not for me, because I’ve done the work He set before me.  I loved humanity from the depths of my soul.  I walked through life with a sense of humility.  My journey gave me great satisfaction and wholeness, in allowing me to be the Shepherd for thee.

And so, although I’ve transitioned from this realm of earthly reality, I sit in heaven waiting and watching over all of you.  Know that I am present in each of your lives, to love you, to guide you, and protect you from harm.  You will feel me, you will sense me, I will never be far.  As you whisper my name in your prayers each day, know that I am still the Shepherd God sent to you, and now more than ever, nothing can come between me and thee.  Weep not, weep not, weep not for me, for I’m resting gently with Jesus you see.

May the Prayers of Peace, Love, and Compassion be healing agents for your soul experience in the transition of a loved one.

HEART 4 KIDS

An Original Poem by Elizabeth Marie Galloway-Evans

Have a heart 4 kids today, have a heart so they don’t go astray!

Have a heart 4 kids today, for without them we would lose our way.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!

We must stand and lend a helping hand, united we must stand,

Protect and guide them every day, but never ever standing in their way.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!

No more hunger no more thirst, no more war that leaves a curse.

No child left holding pain- only our love will they gain.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!

They have come to help us understand, Live in love and peace throughout the land.

They know there is a master plan, and that everything is in His hands.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!

All our children born in love’s pure light; they have come to help us share their sight.

If we listen to their little voice, we will come to the creator’s source.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!

No more hunger no more thirst, no more war that leaves a curse.

No child left holding pain, only our love will they gain.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart, have a heart!

Have a heart, have a heart, for Kids today!
